Real Stories
Thousands of guys have attended our groups, and our goal is to help one guy, to save one life. The men on this page have all attended meetings and here they tell the story of their individual journeys and how they have been helped by talking.
It was probably the toughest year of my life. I went through times where I was feeling okay kind of back to my normal self, but I had times where I was signed off work, I couldn't get out bed for days on end. I didn't want to see my children I and I didn't want them to see me in the way I was. I contemplated a lot of dark thoughts.
Steve, South West
I’ve really struggled with my mental health for quite a few years and it reached a point where I’d attempted suicide. I started seeing a counsellor after that, but that wasn’t successful. I got my life a bit back on track and ended up re-lapsing and trying again for a second time. After that, I joined ANDYSMANCLUB and I am now a facilitator and my life is back on track.
Alistair, Huddersfield Cedar Court
From late 2017, I found myself in a position where a build up across several years of stresses and anxieties had got the better of me. One of the biggest contributing factors to this was how uncomfortable I felt talking to people about my issues and feeling as though I was burdening people.
Andy, Dewsbury
Even though I facilitate the Peterborough group I also use it and without it I’m really not sure I would be here today to tell you this story, this is the first time I have admitted this. The support offered by AMC is immense.
Gary, Peterborough
